Step by step guide to look your best for New Year’s (skin & hair care)

Have a big event coming up and don’t know how to prepare for it? We have come up with a step by step guide to looking your best for your big event.

1- Eat clean, eat simple:

It is important to follow your diet well in advance and if you want to look fresh and toned you need to think about cutting out on processed and fattening foods.


Tip: Include fruits and vegetables in your diet and instead of canned juice have fresh fruit juices once a day. Stick to dry fruits and small meals and try having small portions 4 or 5 times a day instead of 3 big meals. Do this two days or a day before the event to avoid bloating.

2- Hydrate:

To avoid bloating and keep yourself refreshed, you need to at least drink 2 litres of water a day.

Tip: Instead of coffee or milk opt for green tea or fresh fruit juice. If you are exercising make sure you drink more than 2 litres a day.

3- Skin care

To avoid puffy eyes the day before the event you need to make sure you sleep on time and for eight hours. The day before the event plan on getting a facial done and if you have no time to go outside you can do a facial at home itself.

Facial at home:

Soak cotton in milk and wipe your face and neck to remove any dirt or makeup. Wash off with cold water and apply any moisturiser and massage in circular motion. Next step is to exfoliate. You can do this by using gram flour + sandalwood mixture or oatmeal powder + milk or yoghurt. Rub this gently for 5 mins and make sure you don’t apply around eyes as the skin is very sensitive. The third step is to steam. If you don’t have a steamer, bring water to boil in a vessel, take it off the heat and take the steam. This will help in opening pores and wash your face  with cool water after 15 minutes. Next step will be applying a mask. Mash ripe banana and apply all over the face and neck. You can also opt for yoghurt or egg for normal skin. Keep it for 15 mins and wash off. The last and final step will be moisturising your skin. Use a moisturiser according to your skin type and massage for 2 minutes and you are good to go.

Tip: Sleep on an elevated pillow to avoid puffy eyes and if you have sensitive skin you can just clean your face and apply rose water.

4- Hair Care-

Wash your hair according to your event time and make sure you go a good hair treatment before the event to make your hair look beautiful. If you have no time getting a spa at the salon then you can do a hair spa at home.

Tip: Get your hair cut and coloured few days before and you can play around and experiment with different styles once you get used to it.

Apart from basic grooming, these are the important tasks to be done to look fresh and glamorous before a day or two for your event or party.
